I am the creator, maker and owner of Light and Stone Candle Company - a wellness and self-care brand creating small-batch luxury crystal candles and other products designed to bring more intention, calm and connection into everyday life.
The business was born from my personal experience with cancer. In 2020, while undergoing intensive cancer treatment, I found comfort in crystals, positive intentions and candles. However, treatment had made me extremely sensitive to chemicals, and many commercial candles caused headaches and nausea.
Rather than give up something that brought me comfort, I decided to create a better option. Once I finished my 2 year cancer journey, I embarked on a year of research, learning and testing, and in 2023 Light and Stone was born. I first started a local school's Christmas fair, grew to becoming a regular at the Squamish Farmers' Market, and then to supplying wholesale to multiple stores and local businesses.
I believe I deserve this award because the business I created represents what can happen when you turn a personal challenge into something positive and meaningful. What began as something I created for myself has grown into a way of sharing light, hope and joy in the world around me.
