Ground Up Climbing
Tell us about your business and why you should receive this award!
Ground Up Climbing deserves the Medium to Large Chambers Award because over the past 10 years, we have grown from a small business with an original plan for six employees into a thriving local business with a team of 40 people and a deeply established role in the Squamish community.
From the beginning, Ground Up was created with the goal of contributing to Squamish beyond simply operating a climbing gym. Over the past decade, we have become a pillar of the local climbing community and an important gathering place for people of all ages and abilities.
For many people in our community, Ground Up has become much more than a place to climb. It has become a “third home” — somewhere people come not only to exercise, but to see friends, build relationships, celebrate milestones, support one another, and feel like they belong. We see this sense of connection every day, and it is one of the things we are most proud of. The relationships and community that have grown within our walls are, in many ways, just as important as the climbing itself.
Our growth over the past 10 years is something we are particularly proud of. What began as a much smaller operation has developed into a business employing 40 people and serving a broad and diverse community. That growth has allowed us to create more local jobs, expand our programming, support athletes and youth, host and support events, and play an increasingly meaningful role in Squamish.
We believe what makes Ground Up deserving of this award is not simply our growth, but the way we have grown while remaining deeply connected to the community that made our business possible. We are proud to be a Squamish business, proud of the people who make Ground Up what it is, and proud of the role we play in supporting the community's strong climbing, outdoor, and recreational culture.
After 10 years, Ground Up is much more than the business we originally envisioned. It has become a workplace, a gathering place, a training ground, an event venue, and an important part of the fabric of Squamish. We believe that combination of sustained growth, local employment, community involvement, and long-term commitment to Squamish is what makes Ground Up a strong candidate for this award.
