Copper & Fern Boutique

Copper & Fern is an independent boutique in Britannia Beach, created with a simple vision: to build a beautiful space where people can discover thoughtful gifts, sustainable products and the incredible local artists, makers and independent brands that make our community so special.

I opened Copper & Fern in November 2024 because I saw an opportunity in a new and growing village. I wanted to create a retail experience that felt personal, welcoming and connected to the community. Taking a chance on a new retail location has been both exciting and challenging, but watching Copper & Fern become part of the fabric of Britannia Beach has made it incredibly rewarding.

What makes me most proud is that Copper & Fern is not just about my business. It is a platform for other small businesses. Every time I introduce a customer to a local maker, artist or Canadian brand, I feel that I am helping another entrepreneur get discovered and supported. I love seeing these businesses highlighted in our store and then watching their products find their way into homes across the Sea-to-Sky and around the world.

In less than two years, we have built a growing community of customers, launched a loyalty program, developed an engaged online and email audience, introduced new brands and hosted six community events. We are continuing to look ahead with plans for bespoke gift boxes and Copper & Fern branded products.

We have also worked to make our store a place for connection, not simply commerce. Our workshops, pop-ups and community events have brought people together while creating opportunities to showcase local talent.

I believe Copper & Fern represents what an independent new business can contribute to a community: a willingness to take a chance, a commitment to supporting others, thoughtful business practices and a genuine desire to create something lasting.

Receiving the New Business Award would be incredibly meaningful because Copper & Fern represents a dream I had for my own community. I am proud of what we have built so far, excited about where we are going, and most proud that our growth can help shine a light on the many other small businesses, artists and makers that surround us.

For me, Copper & Fern is about more than selling beautiful things. It is about celebrating where we live, supporting the people who create here and helping make Britannia Beach a place people want to visit, explore and return to.
