Act Alive Academy

We started offering arts programming through Brennan Park back in 2010 as a one woman business offering weekly ballet classes. Since then we grew our offerings from a once a week ballet class, to include full scale musical theatre production programs and arts classes for all ages. We have moved to a number of locations, survived the pandemic, and have come out as the strong community arts hub that we are today. We now have our own dedicated studio spaces (Act Alive Studio and Vitality Lab) which we also rent to other creatives in a town that so badly needs more arts spaces (Luminesque Dance , Dance with James, Paula Johnson and more), and collaborate with other artists to bring new arts experiences and learning opportunities to the people of Squamish. We now offer 3 different productions a year for ages 1.5-100, as well as offering dance classes, acting classes, workshops, and more seeing hundreds of local performers coming through our doors each year. Last season we were also thrilled to partnered with Squamish Arts to provide live performing arts experiences to over 1500 people in the Squamish community through our productions of Legally Blonde, Footloose and James and The Giant Peach jr. We believe that the arts should be for everyone, and offer scholarships and free tickets to anyone in need who would like to access our programs and shows without financial barriers. In addition to our year round performance programs, we now also offer voice, and dance classes to all ages as well as Pro-D Day Camps, Summer Camps and Spring Break Camps. We have also offered school programs to Skyridge Montessori, Brackendale Elementary, Squamish Nature School, Squamish Montessori, Valleycliffe Elementary, as well as offerring a free elementary school tour of James and The Giant Peach last year, which has helped us expose thousands of kids to arts education. We believe that the power of a strong mentor to be of the highest importance and now have 8 experienced and dedicated instructors on staff to help our community grow and learn. We were honoured to recieve this award 2 years ago, and have been proud continued to deepen our reach and and expand our community and class offerings since that time. We are very proud to be reconginized as local leaders and experts in this field, and if chosen for the award would continue to lead our community with bravery, grace and inclusion for all in the field of arts and entertainment.
