2017-24 Squamish Neighbourhood Small Grants NSG) Coordinator

Championed bringing NSG program to Squamish. NSG program provides up to $500 grant to individuals who have a project to bring their neighbours together to build friendships and neighbourhood resilience. Since the program came to Squamish, over 250 grants have been approved helping fund neighbourhood block parties, community garden initiatives, library boxes and so much more.

2022-present Squamish Volunteer Drivers

Vision: “Transportation will not be a barrier for Squamish residents needing to access medical specialist consultations in Whistler, the North Shore and Vancouver”. I am a driver and I help on the steering committee as well as administration. To give a measure of how these programs touch our community, last year we assisted 140 individuals in Squamish. Since many of those folk need a series of treatments, the number of drives we made in 2024 was 381 and we logged over 1500 volunteer hours.

The total kilometers we drove would be enough to go from Vancouver to Halifax EIGHT times.

Many folk in our community would not be able to get to their medical specialist or cancer treatments without this service.

I am happy and proud to be a volunteer in our community but none of these initiatives cam about because of me alone. Each one is a reflection of the work of dedicated volunteers making a difference in our community. To answer the question “Why should you receive this award?”, I would say I can easily think of countless individuals that deserve it far more than I.
