Porcupine Mechanical is a circular economy startup with a strong commitment to environmental sustainability, deeply integrated into our public identity. Specializing in retrofitting homes with heat pump installations, we improve home energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, and create more comfortable living environments. Through innovative technologies like CoolAutomation, we've tangibly reduced energy use and waste, contributing to the decarbonization of the built environment. Our recent proposal aims to further this mission by making Squamish homes energy self-sustainable. The project, supported by BC Hydro and industry leaders, utilizes solar panels to charge a battery bank that powers a heat pump, water heater, and EV charger, significantly reducing reliance on the electrical grid. This initiative will empower homeowners to lower their energy consumption and contribute to BC's climate goals. We demonstrate community leadership by actively engaging with local businesses and organizations, raising awareness about sustainability through workshops and collaborations. As members of the Mechanical Contractors Association of BC (MCABC), we influence policies and advocate for environmentally responsible practices across the mechanical contracting industry. Our ongoing efforts have positively impacted not just our clients, but also the broader business community. By setting an example of how to integrate sustainability into business operations, we inspire others to adopt similar environmentally-friendly practices. Through our work, we help make Squamish a greener, more sustainable place to live.
